Someone who makes supplication for a long life

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad · Book 31 · Hadith 652

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ مَوْلَى أُمِّ قَيْسِ ابْنَةِ مِحْصَنٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لَهَا‏:‏ مَا قَالَتْ‏:‏ طَالَ عُمْرُهَا‏؟‏، وَلاَ نَعْلَمُ امْرَأَةً عُمِّرَتْ مَا عُمِّرَتْ‏.‏

Umm Qays reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to her, "What she said will make her life long. They said, "We do not know of any woman who was given the long life that she was given."

حَدَّثَنَا عَارِمٌ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ سِنَانٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ قَالَ‏:‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْنَا، أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ، فَدَخَلَ يَوْمًا فَدَعَا لَنَا، فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ خُوَيْدِمُكَ أَلاَ تَدْعُو لَهُ‏؟‏ قَالَ‏:‏ اللَّهُمَّ، أَكْثِرْ مَالَهُ وَوَلَدَهُ، وَأَطِلْ حَيَاتَهُ، وَاغْفِرْ لَه…
