Al-Adab Al-Mufrad · Book 48 · Hadith 1193

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ رِيَاحٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عُمَارَةَ قَالَ‏:‏ جَاءَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ، فَصَعِدْتُ بِهِ عَلَى سَطْحٍ أَجْلَحَ، فَنَزَلَ وَقَالَ‏:‏ كِدْتُ أَنْ أَبِيتَ اللَّيْلَةَ وَلاَ ذِمَّةَ لِي‏.‏

'Ali ibn 'Umara said, "Abu Ayyub al-Ansari came and went up on the flat roof. He came down and said, 'I almost spent the night with no protection.'"
