Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah · Book 23 · Hadith 140

حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنِ ابْنٍ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ‏:‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَأْكُلُ بِأَصَابِعِهِ، الثَّلاثِ وَيَلْعَقُهُنَّ‏.‏

Ibn al-Ka'b ibn Malik reported that his father said: "Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to eat with his three fingers and afterwards he would lick them.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ‏:‏ أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِتَمْرٍ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَأْكُلُ وَهُوَ مُقْعٍ مِنَ الْجُوعِ‏.‏

Anas ibn Malik say: "Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was brought some dried dates, and I saw him eat while he was hunched over from hunger.”
