حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عُمَيْرٌ، مَوْلَى آبِي اللَّحْمِ، قَالَ: شَهِدْتُ خَيْبَرَ مَعَ سَادَتِي، فَكَلَّمُوا فِيَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «فَأَمَرَنِي فَقُلِّدْتُ سَيْفًا، فَإِذَا أَنَا أَجُرُّهُ، فَأُخْبِرَ أَنِّي مَمْلُوكٌ فَأَمَرَ لِي بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ خُرْثِيِّ الْمَتَاعِ
English translation
ʿUmayr, the freed slave of Ābī al-Laḥm al-Ghifārī (may Allah be pleased with him), reported: I witnessed [the conquest of] Khaybar together with my masters, and they spoke to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ about me, so he gave me permission [to take part]. I was girded with a sword, and found myself dragging it along [behind me, being so young]. When he was informed that I was a slave, he ordered that I be given a small portion of the goods.
