حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبُو يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ نُبَيْطٍ قَالَ: كَانَ أَبِي وَجَدِّي وَعَمِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ عَلَى جَمَلٍ أَحْمَرَ». قَالَ: قَالَ سَلَمَةُ: أَوْصَانِي أَبِي بِصَلَاةِ السَّحَرِ، قُلْتُ: يَا أَبَةْ، إِنِّي لَا أُطِيقُهَا، قَالَ: «فَانْظُرِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ فَلَا تَدَعَنَّهُمَا، وَلَا تَشْخَصْ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ»
English translation
Nubayṭ ibn Sharīṭ (may Allah be pleased with him) is reported, through his son Salamah, to have said: My father, my grandfather, and my paternal uncle were with the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ. My father told me, “I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ delivering a sermon on the afternoon of ʿArafah, on a red camel.” Salamah said: My father advised me regarding the pre-dawn prayer; I said, “Father, I cannot manage it.” He said, “Then at least observe the two rakʿahs before Fajr — never abandon them, and do not go out seeking or taking part in fitnah.” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 251
