Three-Narrator Ahadith

حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جُنْدُبِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ الْبَجَلِيِّ ثُمَّ الْعَلَقِيِّ: أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ أَضْحًى، فَانْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِاللَّحْمِ وَذَبَائِحِ الْأَضْحَى، فَعَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهَا ذُبِحَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ كَانَ ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ فَلْيَذْبَحْ مَكَانَهَا أُخْرَى، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ ذَبَحَ حَتَّى صَلَّيْنَا فَلْيَذْبَحْ بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ»
English translation
Jundub ibn Sufyān al-Bajalī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: He prayed with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ on the Day of Sacrifice, and when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ finished, he found meat from sacrificial animals already slaughtered. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ realized that they had been slaughtered before the prayer, so he ﷺ said, “Whoever slaughtered before we prayed, let him slaughter another in its place; and whoever has not yet slaughtered until we have prayed, let him slaughter in the name of Allah.” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 249
