Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Anas was asked whether the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ had dyed his hair. He said: “He had no more than around seventeen or twenty white hairs visible at the front of his beard.” He added: “Grey hair was no blemish upon him.” When Anas was asked, “But is it a blemish [in others]?” he replied: “All of you dislike it. As for [the Companions]: Abū Bakr used to dye with ḥennā and katam, while ʿUmar used to dye with ḥennā.”
