Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I invited the Muslims to the wedding feast of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ on the morning he consummated his marriage with Zaynab bint Jaḥsh. He fed the Muslims bread and meat until they were satisfied. He then went around to the apartments of his wives as he used to do, greeted them, and they prayed [for blessings] upon him. He then returned home and I was with him. When he reached the house, there were two men engaged in conversation in a corner of the room. When he saw them he turned and left. When the two men saw that the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ had left, they hastily got up and departed. I do not know whether I informed him or whether he was told by someone else; he returned to his house, lowered the curtain between himself and me, and then the verse of ḥijāb was revealed.
